Soothing PUPPPS Spray

So, you’re pregnant! Or, someone you know is pregnant. Let me start of by saying congratulations! If you have never been pregnant before and this is your first rodeo – I know first hand it’s a super stressful, confusing, tiring, exciting, amazing time of your life! But, with every passing day, you may be experiencing new and (not so) exciting pregnancy symptoms!

Not only are you and your baby getting bigger by the day, but you may be experiencing headaches, swelling, crazy cravings, extreme exhaustion, restlessness – it’s a wonder anyone wants to get pregnant! But, there is also another amazing pregnancy symptom that affects about 1 in 3 or 4 women (typically carrying boys) – and that my friend, is called PUPPPS… or Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy. Just rolls off the tongue, am I right?

So, what is PUPPPS? Well, it is a rash that about 70% of pregnant women encounted (usually those carrying boys). The body breaks out in little red bumps and sometimes large red patches. These bumps can literally show up anywhere, but typically attack the belly, buttocks, and legs.

I was lucky enough to come down with PUPPPS when I was about 30 weeks pregnant with my baby boy. And oh man, is it the absolute worst! Think chicken pox, but it doesn’t go away. I had it the worse on my legs and butt. I would literally scratch until I was bleeding. Not fun. That on top of being huge and uncomfortable already? I was dying for a remedy. But, as far as I had heard, the only way it would go away was to deliver the baby. Well, I was still about 10 weeks away from that. So, I started experimenting with some oils!

Below you will find the recipe I eventually put together. You may think it strong, but the potency was just what I needed for relief and healing! I started using this spray on the affected areas of my body and I soon started to see less bumps showing up! This spray essentially (pun intended) cleared up my rash by 36 weeks! It was incredible. I then shared it with another mom who was suffering from the same affliction and she saw incredible results as well.
In a 2 oz spray bottle, add the following:
15 Drops Peppermint
15 Drops Lavender
